The world of Jewish learning has traditionally been dominated by the elite male practice of text study. Gashmius understands itself it be in the lineage of those who are attempting to expand our conceptions of "Jewish knowledge" to include non-textual sources. Taking our cue from Jericho Vincent's piece, we think of our featured art not as mere adornment to written content, but as genuine neo-Hasidic content in and of itself.

Emily Marbach
Emily Marbach is an American figurative collagist who lives in London. Emily published the Collage Haggadah that has over 80 artworks in it, as well as a new gender neutral translation that she has written herself. Her other Jewish projects include a series of 28 collages on the themes in Eshet Chayil. She created another series from a Yom Kippur prayer that Leonard Cohen made famous with his song Who By Fire. Among the work she has had in exhibitions was one that took place in the Bulgarian embassy in London called Sky of Stars that told the little known story of what happened to the Jews of Bulgaria in the holocaust. Marbach uses her work to raise funds for charities. Her work is owned internationally.

Owen Tikvah
Owen Tikvah (He/Him) is a multimedia artist and illustrator. He enjoys creating work about his personal experiences, the world around him, and the various things that worm their way into his mind. He is currently studying art education, and is passionate about making the visual arts available and accessible to everyone.

Gavi Weitzman
Gavi Weitzman is an artist, educator and community organizer living in Philadelphia. She works mainly with printmaking, painting, collage, and object making to explore themes of embodiment, ritual, identity, and tradition. Her most recent work explores the relationship between hair and femininity.
Gavi graduated with honors from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis with a BFA in Studio Art and Art History and Archaeology. Her work has been shown in exhibitions online and in Pennsylvania and Indiana, and she completed an apprenticeship at the Fabric Workshop and Museum in Spring 2022. Gavi is currently a resident of the Philadelphia Moishe House where she plans fun and creative events for the Jewish community with her roommates.
