Submissions

Gashmius is accepting submissions for our Fifth Volume, which will be released for the 5786/2025 High Holidays and focus on the theme of TESHUVAH. Often translated as “repentance” or “return,” this concept is central to the reconciliatory months of Elul and Tishrei, when we mark Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. What does it mean to “do teshuvah” for the harms we have caused to ourselves, each other, and the world? How do the Hasidic masters spiritualize this process? How might teshuvah enable us to “return” to parts of ourselves we feel estranged from? Can teshuvah offer us a framework for this current political moment?

In this volume, we will explore these questions and more.

Our “neo-Hasidic” tent is wide. That means that while we do not only publish works that are solely Hasidic/neo-Hasidic, all pitches must be connected to a mystical — and not broadly Jewish — approach. We also ask that you adhere to the style guide provided below. Please only submit complete drafts, we will not be accepting pitches for this volume.

Please submit by emailing your submission as an attachment to the email info@gashmius.org with the subject line “TESHUVAH: [Your Piece Title & Your Name]” by Monday July 28, 2025.

Please send submissions that adhere to this style guide.
