Submissions

Gashmius Magazine is accepting submissions for our sixth volume, on the theme of PRAYER. In our relationship to the Divine it is all too easy to get trapped in the realm of ideas, but, as Reb Meshullam Feivush of Zbarazh said, “the prerequisite for holy learning is fiery and connective prayer”!

 

So, what holds the category of ‘prayer’ in your life? Is it the traditional prayer service? Meditation and singing? Is it protest, which the neo-Hasidic trailblazer Abraham Joshua Heschel is often quoted as calling "praying with your feet"? Or is it contemplative eating or nature walks? Send us your personal reflections, your translations of Hasidic texts, your modern tkehinos (Yiddish supplications), and your niggunim (melodies).

 

In this volume, we hope to explore these questions and more.

We will only be accepting submissions that are explicitly connected to a hasidic or mystical approach. We also ask that you adhere to the style guide on our website and only submit complete drafts— we will not be accepting pitches for this volume.
